My Milkshake Brings All The Boys To The Yard.

Get ready for a new cult favorite.

The ‘Almond Coconut Milk Soufflé Cody Cream’ by Laura Mercier is straight up ridiculous.

Any by “ridiculous,” I mean “too awesome for words.”

coconut

As described by Ms. Mercier, “The Almond Coconut Milk Soufflé Body Crème is an ultra-rich, whipped moisturizing cream containing vitamins A, E and F for nourishment and shea butter for moisturizing without feeling heavy or greasy. The rich crème gives the skin optimum moisture levels, while leaving a delicate fragrance on the skin. Almond Coconut Milk is a warm, rich fragrance with powdered sugar, vanilla extract and a hint of cinnamon. It also includes notes of vanilla mousse as well as vanilla meringue.”

It’s currently sold out at Sephora, but you can still find it at Macy’s and Nordstrom. I’ve heard it’s going for as much as $259 a jar on eBay. (The retail price is usually around $55.) It smells that good. You’ll want to eat yourself. (GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER. I DIDN’T MEAN THAT IN A DIRTY WAY.)

Light ‘Em Up!

AWESOME.

You guys know that burning soy and vegan candles are WAY better for your health than other kinds wax candles, right? Right. Unfortunately, a lot of soy and vegan candles can be on the spendy side.

Enter Pacifica. They already make awesome perfume, body sprays, and makeup, but did you know they sell candles? I didn’t until I saw an ad in a magazine the other day.

And they’re CHEAP! Prices start at six bucks! Their 3oz candles burn for 30 hours, and the 10oz burn for 100. Pacifica has some amazing scents, including Indian Coconut Nectar, Tuscan Blood Orange (my favorite), Tahitian Gardenia, Mediterranean Fig, Sandalwood, and Hawaiian Ruby Guava.

Available at Whole Foods, Amazon.com, the Pacifica website, select Ulta’s, and select boutiques.

Oh! And Pacifica is 100% cruelty-free. No testing on cute lil’ bunnies!

In a Pineapple Under the Sea?

So, I’ve been eyeing Revlon’s new Parfumerie nail polish. It comes in a very cute little bottle; it looks like something you might find in a French drugstore.

images

Revlon claims that this polish is “scented.” (Didn’t we already go through a scented nail polish craze? Like, in the late 90’s and early 00’s?)

I DO give Revlon an A+ for scent. I purchased “Pink Pineapple,” a pale pink shade. And after the polish dries, it really does smell like a tropical vacation. The scent lasted several days, and every time I scratched my nose, I got a nice lil’ whiff of pineapple.

Sadly, the polish started chipping in less than 24 hours, and by day two, some nails were missing their polish completely.

It would be great product if you just wanted to use it for a one-time special event (prom, wedding, first date). But the product doesn’t have any real staying power.*

*I do not use base and/or top coats. Using two coats of the regular polish already tests my patience level. Maybe this polish would work better as 3-step set.

If you have better luck, let me know!

A Lovely Bit of Muffin.

Get your mind out of the gutter, silly gooses.

The title refers to a scene from the Ricky Gervais/Stephen Merchant comedy “Extras.” (Watch it if you haven’t. Not as good as “The Office,” but still sublime.)

Why all the muffin talk, Bree? Because I found a leave-in hair treatment that smells EXACTLY LIKE POPPY SEED MUFFINS.

SERIOUSLY.

DermOrganic’s leave-in treatment leaves hair soft, shiny, is a heat protectant, and repairs damaged hair. You can find the entire DermOrganic at Ulta or online here.

Throw Your Hands in the Ayres!

Sometimes you come across a smell so good, this is really all you can do:

giphy

Thanks to Birchbox, I’ve become familiar with the Ayres brand. Specifically their Patagonia collection – which includes soap, body butter, lotion, body scrub, and candles. (They have several other collections, but Patagonia is my favorite.)

patagonia_body_butter

OH, THE SMELLS! Patagonia is a mix of calming notes of lavender, bergamot, jasmine, and more masculine notes like oak moss, patchouli, and fir. Mix all those notes together, and it’s heaven. It’s a great unisex scent, too!

Personally, I’m partial to the body butter and bar soap. The body butter, with notes of jasmine and lavender, is perfect for bedtime. And their bar soap is so fragrant it can double as an air freshener for your bathroom!

Prices range from $10 to $28. Buy it here.

No Scrubs.

[A scrub is a guy that can’t get no love from me.]

But hold up.

This is a legit scrub.

scrub-fullsize_1_1024x1024

It’s from the brand nyl, and it’s their Organic Gentle Sugar Body Polish.

It’s organic, vegan, cruelty-free, and contains only five ingredients:
*Cane sugar
*Rosehip seed oil
*Meadowfoam seed oil
*Grape seed oil
*Essential oils

And I wish I could scratch-and-sniff a sample to you over the computer screen, because it smells divine. Like sugar and lemons. And even though it’s a body scrub, I promise it’s gentle enough for your face-especially if you’re having an extra oily day.

nyl offers a sample size for $5, and an 8oz jar (which is huge!) for $34. Purchase it here.

Love it.

The Best Smelling Hair Product in the Entire World.

No, I mean it.

I MEAN IT.

It’s called “Healing Oil Treatment” by Macadamia Natural Oil.

You know when a guy walks past you in a store, and he smells so good that you end up (inadvertently) following him around? He doesn’t smell like strong cologne or body spray. He just smells….yummy. Like it’s a mix of his shampoo and laundry detergent. This is that smell!

And it doesn’t hurt that this product leaves your hair super soft, super shiny, and cuts your blow-drying time in half.

However, I don’t recommend standing in the aisle at Ulta, with your eyes closed and your body swaying back and forth ever so slightly while you deeply inhale it. You may get some odd looks. Just sayin’.

$13.50-$39.95 at Ulta and Target.

I Wanna Be Like Mike.

Messing around with perfume samples and was reminded how friggin’ good Michael Kors’ original perfume (just called ‘Michael Kors’) is.

This stuff still holds up. It is sexy, heavy, and warm. Definitely a fall, winter, and maaaaaaybe an early spring scent.

Michael Kors by Michael Kors debuted in 2000. Top notes are freesia, incense, and tamarind; middle notes are tuberose, iris, and peony; base notes are musk, cashmere wood and vetiver.

I love to wear it to bed.

Side note: I seem to get more compliments from women than from men with this perfume. I’d like to think it’s because women have a more sophisticated sense of smell-and they know a future classic when they smell one!

$54 at Sephora.

Available at all Payless shoe stores or online here.

A Wrinkle in Time

I’m 31.

OH GOOD GOD I’M 31.

friends

So, the fine lines and forehead wrinkles are starting to appear. And since I don’t have big enough balls to get botox, I’ve been on the hunt for an instant wrinkle filler for when I need a quick fix.

Here are my top picks:

Peter Thomas Roth’s Instant Firm

untitled

Your forehead won’t budge for hours, I promise. Just be careful not to use too much, as it can get a little ashy. I know it’s spendy at $48, but Ulta and Sephora have a mini-sized version available for $10. Boom. Perfect.

Revlon’s Age Defying Wrinkle Remedy Line Filler

P_Face_Primer_ADWrinkleRemedy

It’s a great primer for your forehead and around your eyes. And it prevents makeup from settling (and highlighting) your wrinkles. Boom, sold again. This stuff is available anywhere- Walgreen’s, Target, ect. A steal at $12.

Good luck, and let me know what works for you!
